Nintendo brings Mario Kart to your living room

In October 2020, Nintendo celebrated Super Mario’s 35th birthday by releasing a new game called Mario Kart Live: Home circuit. You can turn your living room into a Mario Kart circuit. Yes, you heard that right you can make your own circuit, a dream coming true. Nintendo is taking the next step into the augmented reality game.

How does it work?

Each player has its own car with a built-in camera. So, while you are looking at your screen, you can see what your car is seeing. You control the car with your Nintendo Switch. You can build your own circuit and be as creative as you want. The game supports multiplayer, so you can play with up to four players. Each player must, of course, have its own remote controller. On your screen, it will seem like your home had turned into a real circuit. It will also have bonuses floating around. You can still expect everything the normal Mario Kart has to offer and much more. All of that for 120 euros. You can compare it with cars on remote control but much cooler and spectacular.

What is in a box?

1 x Remote control car with Mario or Luigi

1 x Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit digital download

4 x Cardboard gates

2 x Cardboard arrow signs

1 x USB to USB-C charging cable

Reviews

Is it worth paying 110 euros for this new game? Some YouTubers are not really convinced. Setting up the circuit costs a lot of time, so it depends on whether it bothers you or not. Others are saying that the car wheels get dirty really fast and that they miss the option to drift. These are all reviews from grown-ups. They are much more critical than kids. Kids love the game and can’t get enough of it. They don’t mind setting up the circuit; they even like doing it.
